REGISTRATION

Q. What is the cost of Conference registration?

A. ACM-Members $455, Non-members $601

Q. What does the registration fee include?

A. Three days of Technical Sessions, Conference Proceedings, Extended Abstracts, Conference Video, Conference Reception, Coffee Breaks, Exhibits, Networking Reception.

Q. Will lunch be provided?

A. Lunch is at your own expense. The convention center has some luncheon facilities. There are also nearby hotels and restaurants.

Q. What is the Networking Reception?

A. The Networking Reception on Sunday evening is a new conference event for 2002. Participants of the conference, tutorials, workshops and the AIGA Forum are invited to attend to begin their networking experience early. Light snacks will be provided; cash bar.

Q. Are the tutorials or workshops included in those prices?

A. No.
Each tutorial unit (half-day or eve) with the Conference Fee is $290 for all participants. Each tutorial unit (half-day or eve) without the Conference Fee is $350. (See Tutorials for further details.)

Workshops are $90 for a one-day workshop; $180 for a one-and-a-half day or two-day workshop. A person can only participate in a workshop if they submitted a position paper by 25 January, 2002 and are subsequently notified of acceptance by 22 February. (See Workshops for further details.)

Q. What is the maximum number of tutorials a participant can take?

A. Five

Q. What is the AIGA Experience Design Forum?

A. CHI 2002 and AIGA Experience Design are offering a two-day program on Sunday and Monday to explore the intersections of the SIGCHI and AIGA design communities. The fee for SIGCHI and AIGA members is $295; $395 for non-members. Registration is separate from the conference and is limited. The Networking Reception on Sunday evening is included in the registration fee. (See Design FORUM for further details.)

Q. What is the conference registration cost for a student?

A. Student conference registration is $130. With conference registration, each student tutorial unit is $120. Without the Conference registration, the cost of a tutorial unit is $195.

**Note: Students must provide proof of full-time status with their registration form. If registering on-site they will need to present their student ID for the student rate.

Q. Will there be a discount for participants with disabilities?

A. CHI 2002 will do its best to assist any person with disabilities or special needs in order to make their attendance comfortable and possible. However, the CHI Conference does not offer discounts.

Q. What method of payment will be accepted on-site?

A. American Express, Visa, MasterCard, money orders payable to ACM/CHI 2002

Q. Can a participant be invoiced for their registration?

A. No. All registration forms must be accompanied with credit card, check, or money order as payment. Make checks and money orders payable to ACM/CHI 2002.

Q. What is the cutoff date to register for the conference?

A. There are several deadline dates for registration:

  1. The early registration (for the greatest discount - prices quoted above) is 7 March.
    (Note: This date is two weeks earlier than the housing deadline)
  2. The late registration is 10 April. Prices higher that early registration, lower than the on-site rate.
  3. After 11 April, the higher on-site rate will be charged and you will not receive a confirmation.

Q. How can I cancel my registration, what must I do?

A. Cancellation of registration must be submitted in writing and must be received on or before 8 April 2002. A cancellation fee of US$75 will be deducted to cover processing costs.

Q. If I register for the conference, but find out that I cannot attend, can I get the conference materials?

A. If your registration is paid in full and you do not attend, you must make a written request to the Conference Office following the conference. Arrangements will be made to mail you the Proceedings, the Extended Abstracts and the Conference Video. If you pre-ordered merchandise, you can receive a refund if you request a refund in your written request. The Conference will not be able to send you any merchandise.

Q. Can I send my housing form in after 22 March 2002?

A. Yes, but we cannot guarantee that hotel rooms or the conference hotel rates will be available.

CONFERENCE OVERVIEW

Q. Which events happen on which days?

A. Tutorials take place on Saturday evening (18:00-21:30), all day Sunday and Monday (9:00 - 17:30) , and Monday evening (18:00-21:30). Tutorials will take place at the convention center.

Workshops take place all day Sunday and Monday (9:00 - 17:30) at the Hilton Hotel.

The main conference takes place Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (9:00 - 18:00) at the convention center. Conference sessions run 1.5 hours long.

The conference reception is scheduled for Tuesday evening from 19:30 until 22:30 at the International Market Square. Transportation will be provided.
